About Us
From The Owner
Peoria Mineral Springs is more than a historic landmark. It is my family’s home, the place I was raised, and today I care for both the house and the spring.
More than fifty years ago, when my parents moved into the property, it was already marked for redevelopment. The plan would have removed both the spring and the house. By making it their home, my parents prevented that outcome and preserved the site. Without their efforts, neither the spring nor the house would stand today.
With help from my grandfather, Charles Traynor Sr., who made it possible to purchase the house, and with my father’s support, gravel and debris were cleared from the spring reservoir. Together, they began restoring the long-neglected property, bringing the historic spring and the Moss house back into use.
Because of their efforts, the spring still flows freely and the house still stands. As the current owner, I remain committed to caring for this place and preserving its natural character and history.

More Than Water. It’s Part of Our Story
Our spring isn’t just a natural resource; it’s a cornerstone of Peoria’s heritage.
Located on one of the oldest historic sites in the tri-county area, Peoria Mineral Springs was key to the city’s early success and even played a part in launching the region’s brewery industry.
A few local landmarks connected to our site:
• The original Peoria Water Works utility was founded here
• The house built by William S. Moss became closely associated with the spring and early infrastructure on the property
• Spencer Street Hill, beside the spring, is one of the few places in Peoria where an original cobblestone street surface still survives beneath later paving
Our roots run deep. When you choose Peoria Mineral Springs, you’re choosing water from a place that has shaped the community for generations.
