About Us

From The Owner

Peoria Mineral Springs is more than a historic landmark. It is my family’s home, the place where I was raised, and today I own both the house and the historic spring, which I continue to care for.

More than fifty years ago, when my parents moved into the property, it was already marked for redevelopment. The plan would have erased both the spring and the house. By making it their home, my parents blocked the demolition and saved the site from destruction. If not for them, neither the spring nor the house would stand today.

With help from my grandfather, Charles Traynor Sr., who provided the money to purchase the house and worked alongside my father to clear gravel and debris from the spring reservoir, they restored the neglected property, bringing the historic spring and the Moss house back to life.

Because of their efforts, the spring still flows freely and the house still stands. As the current owner, I remain devoted to protecting this rare place and ensuring its natural purity and history endure.

More Than Water. It’s Part of Our Story

Our spring isn’t just a natural resource, it’s a cornerstone of Peoria’s heritage.

Located on the oldest historic site in the tri-county area, Peoria Mineral Springs was key to the city’s early success and even played a part in launching the region’s brewery industry.

A few local landmarks connected to our site:

  • The original Peoria Water Works utility was founded here

  • The house at the spring served as the utility headquarters

  • Spencer Street Hill, beside the spring, is Peoria’s last remaining cobblestone street

Our roots run deep. When you choose Peoria Mineral Springs, you’re choosing water that has shaped the community for generations.
